Here's to Individuality

I think that so many people don't have the courage to stand up or to be who they really are. So many people are followers, or worse, want to be. So many people have no personality or they are just plain mean. I know you guys know where I am coming from with this because I'm in high school but that's the worst part. In life there will always be these kinds of people. There will always be someone who doesn't like you. And the perpetuated stereotypes are so often times true! So here is to being a real person, being true to yourself, not caring what others think of you and being an individual. I know that sometimes we all have trouble with having the courage and bravery that it takes to stand up for what is right and also just being yourself. But in the end, it is the best thing you can do for yourself and anyone else. Here is to not being like everyone else. Here is to being an outcast. And you know what? I really don't give a shit what anyone else thinks. Do you?

Three Weeks worth of Crush of the Weeks

I am so freaking behind. I have three weeks worth of crush of the weeks so this might be a long post so sorry about my forgetfulness....
Anyway, my crush of the week #1 is.... DAVE GROHL!
Dave Grohl is such a hot uy but also a sweetheart, and even though I don't actually know him he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Plus he is hot and talented. He is the total freakin package!!! Other than that whole he is married and has a kid.. But hey, we can still revel in his hotness!!

So, Crush of the Week #2 is.... Matthew McConaughey.
I know that all the crushes of the week so far have been musicians but I don't discriminate: I like actors too!! Plus, Matthew McConaughey is just sexy. No matter what. Oh I even loved him in Dazed and Confused...what a great role for him:) Oh so hot in every movie, from his early ones to the Kate Hudson chick flicks to the Lincoln Lawyer. For me, there is just something rawly irrestible about him. Let's bask in his glory shall we?

Have you ever in all your years seen a more beautiful specimen of a man???

And on to crush of the week #3:
Johnny Depp!!!!
Hot, in more ways than one, Johnny Depp is beautiful as a pirate (and channeling Keith Richards doesn't hurt!), and even as slightly freakish Edward scissor hands. Is there nothing he can't do? And the way he dresses when he goes out in publc, it's like he is trying not to be hot but it only makes him more hot! I wish I could not try and look hot!! Unfair? I think so! But not unfair for my eyes..

God he is beautiful!!! Check him out in the movie Cry Baby, he's a greaser in the movie. Now THAT was hot! Have a lovelyyy week, and think of these hotties to brighten your day! Oh and a little note: BY THE WAY, I have NEVER, not ONCE asked for someone to tell me that who I have chosen for the crush of the week isn't hot. I am talking about some people in particular and not putting names but seriously if you don't like them that is your freaking problem and keep it to yourself! You don't have to be snotty just for the Hell of it. It is by extension insulting me because I really do love any person place or thing that I blog about. So stfu please if you don't like who I blog about because I could really care less what you think! By the way, this rant is not for the masses, it is mainly just for two people who made comments that pissed me off. I usually appreciate feedback. But those two people were just plain RUDE. Anyway... hope your day has been good:)

Isn't it Ironic?

This morning when I was getting ready for school I had Pandora radio on as I usually do. And you know what song came on? Ironic by Alanis Morisette. I hadn't heard this song in forever, but it really rings true to not only my life but life in general. I mean, hello, the whole song is pretty much about good things coming at the wrong time. If there is one person out there who can't relate to that then.. well they must not be human or something! Seriously, I feel like this song describes my life so much! So listen to this song and reflect on the lyrics.

Lyrics:
An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic...don't you think
A little too ironic...and, yeah, I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

Fashion: Why the thought of it brightens my day but also disappoints me

Living where I do sucks. And do you know why? Because most people look like they got dressed in the dark, listen to music that is completely a computer making noises instead of instruments, and the only books they read are the ones they are absolutely required to (And even so, they usually just read the first chapter, give up, and  look up the spark notes online). I am sorry to complain but as I sit in class thinking about new things to post about-fashion in particular-, it is kind of hard to look around the room because... well, no one cares about what they are wearing for the most part. I don't know, I guess the most disturbing part is that they can't even begin to understand fashion or why I love it. I mean, I have friends who don't dress that well and aren't all that interested in fashion but they still can at least understand why I love it. I have started to discover and lust after designer clothes, shoes, and accessories. I have always cared about what I have worn but I care now more than ever and am starting to try to expand my knowledge of fashion and designers.. I want to be an expert. I am not changing my style or anything, it has and always will be what it is, which is really whatever I happen to like. So, expect a lot of fashion inspired, possibly Vogue posts.

My awesome vintage picks of Saturday:D

I got to go and shop at a bunch of awesome antiques stores and my finds are as follows. God I loveeee vintage!!
I found a Diane Von Furstenberg scarf!! Yay!!!!
Coolest print, right??
Vintage, black raglan style sparkly top:)

Purple feather-y earrings, not vintage but purchased at a shop near all the vintage shops. I love them so much.

Cute headbands also purchased at the non vintage shop. It was an eventful day for some unexpected shopping:)

"When the lights go down in the city, and the sun shines on the bay, oh I want to be there in my city."

Cullen and Julia:)
This is one of those bad pictures you capture when trying to get a good picture but someone moves and it turns out to be a hilarious pic!
Guess who?
Regan (Her blog is Honeypeachbelle, it is awesome)
Regan and her model-like fierceness
Bekah and Cullen, I think this picture is so cute!

(All of the above pictures courtesy of the Varsity parking deck and my iPhone)

OMYGOD A BUILDING TALLER THAN THREE STORIES!! Remember, I am from a small town.... haha lol

Jules applying lipgloss for the second time that night
Pictures of the city at night, sorry they are poor quality but my iPhone did it's best!

Oh the pretty city lights at night...

Oh I love the city so so so much! I have lived in a small town my entire life but I want to live in a big city someday! I know that is completely stereotypical but I do! But you try living where I have my whole life and you would feel the same way! So for the above listed reasons you can imagine how happy I was when I found out my drama class was taking a trip to Atlanta to see the play Wicked at the Fox. The Fox is the most beautiful place ever in case you didn't know! Being in the Fox makes you feel like you are in Harry Potter or something, it is that fancy! And you know that amazing feeling when you have been traveling on the interstate for hours and you look up and suddenly you have pulled into the city? It just feels so good! The city fills me with wonder just to look at it, and it is the best overwhelming feeling to be in it. Wicked was just amazing, I got to wear a pretty dress, and best of all I got to hang out with my drama class and I love them all! One of the best parts, is that I got to go with my drama class who could appreciate such art instead of my grade who would do nothing but make fun of the show (they are such geniuses!). I can just honestly say I love being with everyone in my drama class, because at my school there are very few people I really enjoy being around and have things in common with. But in drama, they are all so fun and out going but some are shy too and that makes it the perfect balanced chemistry between everyone. We just all have things in common, and we are all very different from most of our peers and that is why I love drama! On the way home, as if the night hadn't been fun enough already, my friends and I were laughing and talking and  listening to music. It was really late so naturally one of my friends fell asleep then she woke up and she was saying things out of delirium which was hilarious! Then we stopped at this gas station/truck stop and went inside, where Julia (her blog is Bolt Like a Horse so please check it out!!) promptly bought a cheese stick. I know that is bizarre but she did! There was also a diner in there that looked like it was literally straight out of the seventies, wood panelling and all! Oh we were so tired and giggly. It was the best! Along with all of this, I have the absolute bestttt drama teachers anyone could ever have that took us so thank you to them! It was one of the most fun nights I have had in a while:)

Pros and Cons of drinking- The Hangover

The hangover, along with being a movie version of a pros and cons list of drinkng, is one of my new favorite movies. The movie centers around three groomsmen who spend a crazy bachelor party night in Las Vegas with their friend who is getting married, Doug. But they wake up the next morning and can't find him and they have to find him in time for his wedding. In order to do this they must retrace their steps from the previous night. Truly hilarious, and I know I am super behind the times that I have not blogged about this yet, but I just thought I should talk about how truly amazing it is! It is honestly one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, truly hilarious, I literally laughed the entire time! Seriously, I am not kidding, it was so funny I laughed through most of it! One of the ways to know how amazing a movie is is if you cannot pick a favorite scene, every scene is just as witty, humorous, and entertaining as the last. This is one of those movies that kept me on my toes and laughing the whole time, every scene was my favorite scene! Plus, the movie offers an awesome soundtrack of awesome partying music to jam out to. (Like the Phil Collins song Mike Tyson is jamming to for example) Bradley Cooper's character, Phil, is my favorite:) He was so hot in a messed up hungover kind of way the whole movie!! And in mine and my friends movie watching, we always assign characters. And although Julie and Layla have not seen this movie yet, it was obvious what characters they were! So, I am Phil (Bradley Cooper), my friend Julie (Reading Stands Forever-Julie's blog, such a great book blog!!! You must check it out now!!) is Stu (Ed Helms), Harleigh is Alan (Zach Galifianakis), and my other friend, Layla (Tales of a Pale Wildwood Flower-that's her blog, check it out it is so amazing!!) is Doug (Justin Bartha). So yea, watch the trailer and then go watch the movie if you haven't and even if you have, watch it again! Lots of love to my fellow fans of The Hangover. If not the best party movie, top three by far. Have a great, hopefully not hungover (Or maybe hungover, because atleast then you maybe had a fun night like these guys did the previous night), day.

Crush of the Week: Travis Barker

(Insert girlish fan girl squeal) Oh why do I love you so much Travis Barker? He is one of my many rock n roll crushes, but since I have recently gotten into his band (Blink 182, they are awesome!!! Check them out please!) I thought I would do a post on him. He is cute in a bad boy rocker-ish kind of way. And he is one of the few people who really rock the tattoos, they just look natural and very rocker-ish on him. Sexy and cute with those startling blue eyes, and anyone who has ever seen his videos knows in most of Blink 182's music videos he is usually the one who gets the girl.. It's that bad boy thing, I swear! But along with the bad boy thing is the fact that he seems super nice and shy underneath the rough exterior. Here's to him and his hotness! And here is to all of the future crushes of the week! Let us bask in their hot glory:)

Why Charlotte's Attic?

So why Charlotte's Attic? Well, why not?? I just thought I would do a short and simple post on why I named this blog what I did and why I think people should read it! For starters, I wanted a vintage sounding name, and I knew that I would not be focusing on really any one thing (like, I wouldn't be blogging only about books or fashion etc) in particular on this blog, just whatever seems fun to write about and is on my mind. And I knew that it would also be focused on history mainly from the past century, books, T.V. , movies, fashion, and so on. I have always wanted the name Charlotte as well. And my logic in naming it Charlotte's Attic was that all my posts would be like going through an old attic. An attic with stuff from every generation. So you might find an old book from the early nineteen hundreds but you could also find a pair of go-go boots from the sixties, old VHS tapes from the nineties, a record player with records from the seventies, a flapper dress from the twenties, an awful hair scrunchie from the eighties, a television set from the fifties, and any array of things. The way that pieces from lives from every time would be in an attic, it is much the same with my blog. That is the essence I am trying to create. Also, if anyone sees any awesome attic pictures that display what I have a fore mentioned I would really appreciate it if you let me know!! Thanks, and I hope you guys enjoyed this post but that it was also informative. Have a good day!:) Or night depending on when you read this...
