"Julia, Julia, ocean child, calls me. So I sing a song of love, Julia. Julia, seashell eyes, windy smile, calls me. So I sing a song of love, Julia."

So I am doing this blog post for a friend of mine. It's like a tribute to her awesome indie-ness. The reason I am doing this is because she told me the other day that she doesn't think she's very indie when she is literally the most indie person I know!! She is a cool, girl next door, funny, normal, and interesting person. Not to mention a great friend! She loves The Beatles and really all the great oldies music, and Indie fashion, and art and is so creative! I asked her and she said that her most Indie favorite very-her outfit was a navy blue romper. "A lovely thing" I believe she called it. And it took me an eternity before the song to quote for the title came to mind. But when it did it smacked me in the face like a ton of bricks. Artistic, music loving, even a little hippie-esq. I just wanted my friend to know how Indie she really is!! So I have included pictures that remind me most of her, what comes to mind when I think of her....
Navy Blue Romper:)
I put this because she is more of a neckace person than an earrings person and she LOVEESSS owl anything, but especially necklaces.

This is soooo her, the hippie girl!
A Doors quote, one of her favorite bands
This just looked like her and it is pretty cool

One of her favorite movies:)

Again, obsession with cute little owls

Jules lovesss converse and has a pair just like this, except all the spaces are filled in

Indie Rock Fashion!

This struck me as being so her, it reminds me of how she was when she was little, being stuck in a dress than finally let loose upon the world to play in the grass and skip. Free spirit.
The Doors! Need I say more, because who DOESN'T love them?!

And last but not least her (and with great reason, one of my favs too!) favorite actress, Zooey Deschanel, very AWESOME and cool actress!

So see, Jules? You thought you weren't that Indie, when in fact you couldn't be more Indie if you tryed, my dear. So hope this tribute has made you realize that! And that it is ok, better than ok, cool, to be the girl next door. You are a very rocking chick, don't change! There need to be more us rocking girls out there, we are out numbered by the idiot wanna-be masses!! But seriously, hope you liked the post and hope everybody else did too, there will be a few more to come!:)
Sincerely Yours,
Ms. Charlotte

Painted Pretty to Please

This is a drawing I did one night when I was bored, everything on the drawing is done with some beauty product, but mostly makeup. I think it really symbolizes how crazy us girls can get about being all made up all the time. But really I did not create this with some underlying metaphor in mind. I was just really bored and decided I would draw with some of my makeup and other beauty products. I think it is really a cool drawing if I do say so myself, and it really shows like girly girl pretty-ness but in a messed up kind of way. Know what I mean? Like a broken doll sort of? Anyway, hope everyone likes it and who the Hell cares if they don't? What the Hell? Lol, using my new motto:)

"All my life I been good but now I'm thinking what the Hell?!"

Jeez, isn't she a really rockin girl?? Really kickass, and brave to wear so much eye liner
This song, What the Hell, has been a new song I discovered this summer and I absolutely love it!! But I also loveee Avril Lavigne so not that surprising. I love the catchy tune and lyrics, of which I know all by the way! I play it on repeat wayyy to much, I have been driving my family and friends insane with it. But I just love the message of it which is basically take a chance, do something crazy, have some fun!!! And throw your hands in the air and just say what the Hell? It is a new motto of mine, and I definitely relate to the message, and agree with it and doing just that! Throwing my hands in the air and saying what the Hell and taking a chance. It's the best feeling of freedom to just be free and have fun sometimes. So I encourage everyone to do. Have some fun this summer, do crazy fun stuff you wouldn't normally do!! Don't go insane or anything but you get what I'm saying! So, go, hence forth!

The Antique Pink of Hollywood

Antique pink, such  pretty color. The reason I am naming my post this is because it is what makes me think of these beatiful, brave, smart, elegant, charming ladies I will be writing about. But the list of great qualities does not stop there, but I figure I won't bore you with adjectives that describe them. Antique Pink is a series of posts I will be doing, as I become more acquainted with more old Hollywood actresses. But here are the great women I know lots about, that I love and wish to emulate. I love their real beauty, I love their red lips and rosy cheeks and thin but not to thin frames. But I will stop gushing and get to the point of this post..

And here they are, some of my personal favorites:

The strikingly beautiful, Natalie Wood, although to fans of my blog (which I am convinced there are none) Natalie being on this list is really not all that surprising. She has an EXTENSIVE list of movies she has been in, acting from the time she was a child in movies such as the iconic 34th Street and many others. As a teenager she starred alongside James Dean and Sal Mineo in Rebel Without a Cause. And after that, moving on to movies such as West Side Story, Inside Daisy Clover, and Splendor in the Grass to name a few. She had such a draw to her, she was attractive, but part of her beauty was that she could transform into cute, sexy, gorgeous, very young, very adult, or any array of different things. Her beauty could change, she didn't have just one look. Becuase if you look at pictures of her she looks very different in all of them, and in her movies you can sort of sense this change as well.

Next up, Audrey Hepburn! We all know of her beauty, in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, The Nun's Story and others I am to lazy to type. The thing about Audrey is, women emulate her because she had this unmistakable air of confidence and charm that you could practically smell like perfume! She knew who she was and was so unafraid to be herself. And, isn't that something we all want? She earned the right to be referred to as a classic actress and if you do not belive this, go watch any of her movies, and if you have any brains you will understand exactly what I am talking about. Elegance radiated from her very being.

Elizabeth Taylor, pretty little violet eyed Liz. What a raven beauty, with her dark locks. She looked so much like a porcelain doll with beautiful porcelain skin. She was an uncommon gorgeous gal, in that not everyone has porcelain skin, black hair, and violet eyes. But she was also gifted with the ability to capture the attention of an audience while on screen, so very talented. Grace, something she had so very much of. It is hard to explain but she could just act with such grace on screen and off, all the time setting an example for everyone for decades to come.

Last but certainly not least, Marilyn Monroe. The ultimate blonde bombshell, who pretty much every girl and woman alike wishes they could be just a little like, and who every man desires and longs for. Ladies and gentlemen Marilyn doesn't require much to be said about her, because her personality comes through so well in her photos and movies. But let me just say, a magnificent actress, a wondrous beauty, and an honor to even be able to look at in movies and interviews. Just a damn shame she had to go for a president, or maybe her end would have been different. But then again, no one could resist her, not even a president.

My Shoe Obsession: Converse Style

There are few shoes that I have a true love for like Converse, they are just the best. And people who are weird like me tend to like them. It is largely a shoe worn by outcasts which is cool, they show you aren't like everyone else. I love being an individual so much, just simply because so many people try to be what others want them to be. So I just thought I'd do a post on these awesome very rockerish shoes, and the above pictures are me in my converse. Some awesome kicks right? I sure think so...but of course I think so right? I really want some awesome converse, like John Lennon converse or Nirvana ones. That'd be pretty cool, if I get any I will definitely be putting pictures all over here! Hope everyone is having a great summer:)

Kiersten Dunst looking very thoughtful

What got you two so excited? Maybe it was meeting the president..

This brings new meaning to being patriotic

Betsy and Arlene looking very angry..and mod

Betsy sneering, and Arlene trying to look cool.
I was in a hurry to post last night and forgot to add pictures, and quite frankly I do not feel like learning how to edit previous posts. So sorry I'm a ditz. Just pretend this post is part of the last one.

"Four score and seven years ago our forefathers...did something, I don't know what!" -Arlene

O, the memories of watching the movie Dick. It's one of those teeny-bopper, funny movies that is insanely fun to watch because it is just a funny concept to think that these two dumb blonds could be deep throat. It's a pretty deep thought, pun intended. Hey, I never said I was a comic! The movie chronicles two young teenage girls, who meet President Nixon after wandering away from their tour group at the white house. They were present at the Watergate break in but really have no idea what's going on until they find a tape in which a recorded conversation from Nixon and other people who work for him is heard. They then proceed to tell the reporters Woodward and Bernstein who eventually take them seriously but first greet the two young girls like this:
Woodward: "How old are you??"
Betsy: "Twenty-three?"
Woodward: "Is that your combined ages?"
Betsy: "There's no need to be snotty!"

Those are some of my favorite lines from the movie, they make me laugh every time I hear them! The movie is basically making a mockery of Nixon, his administration, and the whole situation and those involved. It's really a  funny movie that I think is great to watch and just appreciate the stupidity of everyone in it, especially Nixon! I don't know how you could watch this movie and not laugh. Maybe I'm not the only one out there who loves it, if I'm not, let me know what you like about the movie. And if you don't like this movie... you have no taste.
