"The whole damn world is just as obsessed with who's the best dressed and who's having sex. Who's got the money who gets the honeys who's kinda cute and who's just a mess. And you still don't have the right look and you don't have the right friends, nothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trends. HIGH SCHOOL NEVER ENDS!!!"

So I have a million and one blog post ideas, but... They are being neglected at the moment. But hey, they are being written on notebook paper in my classes so that I have something fun and worthwhile to do. I have a different post topic that I write about in every class. Provided I am given time that is. But that is not the point of this post so I will just get to it. I am really not pleased with my life at the moment. I know, I know, I'm a teenager, things are supposed to suck. And I guess since that's the way it's supposed to be apparently, I'm doing pretty damn good! But going to school and being miserable pretty much all the time is not very fun. I know in high school people aren't supposed to like you if you aren't popular (which I'm not) but I am just... tired. I live in the south, always have, but I'm not a redneck so naturally I don't fit in. And being a throwback to the 70's doesn't help my position. Whatever. This post is for, well, me mostly. It is so I can vent in a healthy way. But it is also for my school: I have a song you should listen to, after all, people like you guys are the ones who inspired it!! Read the lyrics below for extra emphasis!
For years you think for sure
that's all you've got to endure
all the total dicks all the stuck up chicks
so superficial so immature
then when you graduate
you take a look around and you say
Hey wait! This is the same as where I just came from
I thought it was over
Aw that's just great!

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
with who's the best dressed
and who's having sex
who's got the money
who get's the honeys
who's kinda cute
and who's just a mess
and you still don't have the right look
and you don't have the right friends
nothing changes but the faces the names and the trends
high school never ends

Check out the popular kids
you'll never guess what Jessica did
how did Mary Kate lose all that weight
and Katie had a baby so I guess Tom's straight
and the only thing that matters
is climbing up that social ladder
still care about your hair and the car you drive
doesn't matter if you're sixteen or thirty-five

Reese Witherspoon she's the prom queen
Bill Gates, captain of the chess team
Jack Black the clown
Brad Pitt the quarterback
I've seen it all before
I want my money back!!

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
with who's the best dressed
and who's having sex
who's in the club
 and who's on the drugs
who's throwing up
before they digest
and I still don't have the right look
and I still have the same three friends
and I'm pretty much the same as I was back then
High school never ends

High school never ends

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
with who's the best dressed
and who's having sex
who's inda cute and who's just a mess
And I still don't have the right look
And I still have the same three friends
And I'm pretty much the same as I was back then
High school never ends

High school never ends

High never ends!

Here we go again

This might be a super stereotypical and cheesy song to play due to my feelings but it is so freaking true!!! But I suppose it is better than talking about some angry grunge song (Which I seriously considered). God, Nirvana, Hole, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, all those great grunge bands really knew what they were talking about with the whole I hate you assholes message of their's. Especially Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not." -Kurt Cobain
Let's all start living by that quote. And to my whole me-hating school, thank you! Because what doesn't kill youonly makes you stronger... But to be fair, I haven't gotten through it yet! This might be like Mean Girls where someone gets pushed in a bus! (Even though no one actually got pushed in front of a bus in that movie but still! You get the point!) Anyway, I sure as Hell hope so!

Summer Reading: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Dairy Queen

Summer reading is something people so often times dread, but not me! I am probably the only one in my entire grade who enjoys to read (most of them are idiots though, who saw that coming?). Anyway, our summer reading consisted of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis and Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was required reading for everyone and then you had a small list you could choose from of books and I choose Dairy Queen. It was SUCH an amazing book, I must tell you that I wasn't looking forward to reading it. Me being a girly girl and all, well, I didn't think I would be able to relate at all. But before I go on confusing everyone let me give a summary of the book:

When you don’t talk, there’s a lot of stuff that ends up not getting said.

Harsh words indeed, from Brian Nelson of all people. But, D. J. can’t help admitting, maybe he’s right.

Stuff like why her best friend, Amber, isn’t so friendly anymore. Or why her little brother, Curtis, never opens his mouth. Why her mom has two jobs and a big secret. Why her college-football-star brothers won’t even call home. Why her dad would go ballistic if she tried out for the high school football team herself. And why Brian is so, so out of her league.

Welcome to the summer that fifteen-year-old D. J. Schwenk of Red Bend, Wisconsin, learns to talk, and ends up having an awful lot of stuff to say.

So it is really a great book that I would recommend to almost anyone because it is so gender friendly. I mean, it isn't one of those bubble gum chewing teeny bopper girly books that no boy in his right mind would read. And if a girl as girly as me could read it, anyone can.

Now, I know everyone knows about the The Chronicles of Narnia. What with a movie franchise and C.S. Lewis's books being classified often as classics, we have all heard of The Chronicles of Narnia. I hadn't read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe since fourth grade and it was just as good if not better than I remember it. It was just really interesting and well written, with a great plot but also an adventurous and fantsasy filled. Which always provides a great escape from life. I won't provide a synopsis for this book, I think everyone has heard of the story. So, yea, please check them both out if you hadn't already, they are REALLY great!! I just love Narnia because of the greatness of it's writing and the Christian symbolism I find really interesting as well. So check them out!!!

"Julia, Julia, ocean child, calls me. So I sing a song of love, Julia. Julia, seashell eyes, windy smile, calls me. So I sing a song of love, Julia."

So I am doing this blog post for a friend of mine. It's like a tribute to her awesome indie-ness. The reason I am doing this is because she told me the other day that she doesn't think she's very indie when she is literally the most indie person I know!! She is a cool, girl next door, funny, normal, and interesting person. Not to mention a great friend! She loves The Beatles and really all the great oldies music, and Indie fashion, and art and is so creative! I asked her and she said that her most Indie favorite very-her outfit was a navy blue romper. "A lovely thing" I believe she called it. And it took me an eternity before the song to quote for the title came to mind. But when it did it smacked me in the face like a ton of bricks. Artistic, music loving, even a little hippie-esq. I just wanted my friend to know how Indie she really is!! So I have included pictures that remind me most of her, what comes to mind when I think of her....
Navy Blue Romper:)
I put this because she is more of a neckace person than an earrings person and she LOVEESSS owl anything, but especially necklaces.

This is soooo her, the hippie girl!
A Doors quote, one of her favorite bands
This just looked like her and it is pretty cool

One of her favorite movies:)

Again, obsession with cute little owls

Jules lovesss converse and has a pair just like this, except all the spaces are filled in

Indie Rock Fashion!

This struck me as being so her, it reminds me of how she was when she was little, being stuck in a dress than finally let loose upon the world to play in the grass and skip. Free spirit.
The Doors! Need I say more, because who DOESN'T love them?!

And last but not least her (and with great reason, one of my favs too!) favorite actress, Zooey Deschanel, very AWESOME and cool actress!

So see, Jules? You thought you weren't that Indie, when in fact you couldn't be more Indie if you tryed, my dear. So hope this tribute has made you realize that! And that it is ok, better than ok, cool, to be the girl next door. You are a very rocking chick, don't change! There need to be more us rocking girls out there, we are out numbered by the idiot wanna-be masses!! But seriously, hope you liked the post and hope everybody else did too, there will be a few more to come!:)
Sincerely Yours,
Ms. Charlotte
